Indian CIOs to focus on enterprise mobility, Ernst & Young survey finds – FierceMobileIT

Enterprise mobility, it’s not just a U.S. phenomenon.

Enterprise mobility is becoming a global concern for CIOs as the worldwide proliferation of mobile devices forces enterprises to confront mobility and BYOD issues.

“The CEO cockpit view of the business is expected to drive mobility evolution; 62 percent of organizations are likely to implement, upgrade or evaluate mobile applications in the coming year,” Shirish Gariba, president of the CIO Klub, was quoted by InformationWeek as saying.

And it’s not just mobility. It’s the cloud, too.

In addition to mobility, Indian CIOs said they are focused on cloud computing as a way to bridge the gap between consumerization of IT and the traditional enterprise application world, according to the InformationWeek report.

CIOs are hoping that cloud computing will lower IT infrastructure and administrative costs while providing a scalable model of IT. However, concerns about security and loss of control of IT assets have slowed adoption by many Indian companies, the report noted.

The convergence of smart mobile devices and cloud computing opens up tremendous opportunities to streamline operations, improve productivity, and reduce costs. At FotoNotes, we’re all over that.
